The WOWA Knowledge Bank is a dedicated platform for curating, archiving, and navigating knowledge about real estate assets. Accounts in the Knowledge Bank are hosted by WOWA on behalf of property owners, who are in charge of their own data from an organizational, privacy, and security perspective. The Knowledge Bank provides comprehensive information for use by the owner’s team; users; real estate, architecture, and engineering professionals; contractors; consultants; and other stakeholders, offering contextual narrative, roadmaps to the development process, and regular project updates.

Users can access the WOWA Knowledge Bank’s web portal to get acquainted with the property, review development roadmaps, and browse relevant files. They can also use the web portal to access the system of folders where property records are organized, with the ability to preview, download, and upload files.

You can browse useful information here. If you’d rather contact us with questions or to request training, we’ll get back to you promptly.

Organization

Information about each property is organized using a standardized yet flexible framework.

The landing page gives a very brief overview of a property, its owner, and status. A new property may consist only of a landing page while further information is being acquired.

As files are gathered or generated, the property page and subpages are built out to reflect the current state of knowledge about the condition, use, operation, context, and history of the property, regardless of whether a development is planned.

The development page and subpages document significant changes to the property, and provide road maps to the entitlement, design, and construction processes. Each page includes space for up-to-date “intelligence”: information or issues that need to be brought to the owner’s attention.

The WOWA Knowledge Bank pages and the corresponding folders are organized as follows, with variations reflecting significant differences across properties and development projects.

Links

Links are presented in white font. The WOWA Knowledge Bank uses symbols to distinguish between the following types of link.

You can navigate straight to major groups of property or development files using the links near the top of their respective pages.

Roadmaps

In Navigate, the entitlements and realization pages act as roadmaps to important aspects of the property’s development. Once the development team has established which entitlements will be required for the project, each item is added to the entitlements page, along with a current status, to show what’s been accomplished and what lies ahead. We use the same approach for the realization page, so that the owner and development team can get up to date at a glance.

Updates

Property websites are updated quarterly or more often, depending on the timing of milestones and deliverables. Refer to the landing page to see the date of the most recent updates.

On a more detailed level, the entitlements and realization pages display “last update” dates for each item listed.

Preview files

You can preview files using Egnyte’s online interface. Click the white linked text to navigate to the files you want to look at. Here are some tips for easier viewing:

PDFs and Microsoft Office files: The toolbar along the top of the window enables printing, changes to page orientation and layout, zooming in/out, searching within the document, and viewing others’ comments.

Image files: You can browse groups of image files in folders by switching to thumbnail mode using the foursquare icon at the top right of the page.

BIM files: To find the pan, orbit, zoom, and ruler tools in the BIM file viewer, hover your mouse near the bottom of the window.

Download files

When you’re viewing the contents of a folder, you’ll see the purple “Download Folder” button at top right. To download a specific file or group of files, check the box to the left of each file you want to download, and click “Download Selected” at top right.

Upload files

To upload files, log in to the WOWA Knowledge Bank and navigate to the relevant property’s “Uploads” page. Click “Upload files” and enter your name, email address, and company name (if any) in the dialog box. Click “Continue.” Follow the instructions to attach the files and click “Send these files.”

Egnyte will notify us about your upload, and the file will be tagged with your name, company, location, IP address, and the date and time of the upload.

How it works

We use three digital services to deliver the Knowledge Bank to users. The website is hosted on a Hetzner server in Germany, and is built on the European content management system Kirby. Files accessible through the WOWA Knowledge Bank are stored, managed, and secured in Egnyte, an intelligent content platform tailored for real estate, architecture, engineering, construction, and related industries, which is hosted in data centers in the European Union. For more information on these tools, see their respective websites:

Hetzner: https://www.hetzner.com/
Kirby: https://getkirby.com/
Egnyte: https://www.egnyte.com/

Via Egnyte, the WOWA Knowledge Bank has viewing, downloading, and uploading capabilities for all major real estate and construction industry file types, including 3D model files, 2D CAD drawings, PDFs, Microsoft Office files, images, and audiovisual files, making it possible for users to access information without unnecessary downloads or additional software.
