Every piece of real estate consists of four elements: the parcel of land, the improvements, the services, and knowledge about the property’s history, current condition, and future vision. When a property is poorly understood, its potential value will go unrealized. Historically, knowledge in real estate has been embedded in people and organizations. This implicit knowledge needs to be made explicit and communicated to others in order for properties to flourish. Today, knowledge is increasingly generated, distributed, and formatted online, but real estate and related industries have been among the slowest to adopt digital technologies. A shift is needed in the culture of real estate development, reconceptualizing digital assets as real estate assets. To encourage this realignment, WOWA’s research and development team created the Knowledge Bank to curate, share, and secure digital information about real estate assets on behalf of owners.

Lösung

The Knowledge Bank reflects WOWA’s knowledge-first approach to real estate, making each property central to research and the organization of knowledge. Unlike other cloud-based services, it is governed by the business and data security priorities of real estate owners, rather than third-party architecture/engineering/construction service providers or technology companies. For each real estate asset, WOWA creates a secure website in the Knowledge Bank on behalf of real estate owners. The site displays key property and development information and links to essential files in our secure cloud storage, enabling both quick access at a glance and in-depth analysis. The creation of a digital twin is the first step for every property; as operations continue or development progresses, more knowledge is generated and captured for future use. The Knowledge Bank makes these digital assets invaluable through selective curation, narrative presentation, and elegant design.
